Zojirushi BB-CEC20 versus Zojirushi BBCC-X20 ?
The first point to clarify before moving on to the review is that having carried out a little research I have discovered that the Zojirushi BB-CEC20 Home Bakery Supreme has actually replaced the Zojirushi BBCC-X20. It is essentially the same as the previous model with the exception of its exterior. Therefore if you were looking to purchase a Zojirushi BBCCX20 keep reading as you will find out all about its replacement model and the great news is it’s actually cheaper!
So what does this high class Bread Machine do? It certainly has the highest price of the bread machines I have reviewed but is it really worth the money? I think so but read on to make your own decision…
Product features.
The Zojirushi BB-CEC20 bakes a lovely 2 pound loaf of bread and is favoured by many for its 10 pre-set programme settings. The options include Basic, Basic Wheat, Basic Dough, Quick, Quick Wheat, Quick Dough, Home Made, Cake, Sour Dough Starter, and Jam. Yes that’s right, you can even make Jam in this bread machine! However, even better than that, this replacement to the Zojirushi BBCC-X20 will allow you up to 3 memory settings on its Home Made function. What this means is that you are able to specify exactly how long each step of the bread making process should take. This can be really important when making speciality breads such as gluten free. You are actually able to turn off the extra rises which can destroy the gluten free dough, meaning you end up with a tasty loaf, adapted to your specific requirement.
The BB-CEC20 allows you the choice of 3 different crust shades and will allow you to cook a wide variety of food from Meatloaf to chocolate cake.
Dual Blades.
I believe one of the top features of this Zojurushi Bread Maker is that it has 2 blades. Dual blades aid the mixing process and many users have commented on how much better this is than just having a single blade. The problem with solely having one blade is that the ingredients tends to just be pushed or spin around in the baking pan rather than properly mixed.
Some basics
This bread machine has a handy 13 hour delay function just like the Panasonic SD-YD250 which means you can wake up to the smell of freshly baked bread in the morning or when you return home from work. It has a clear LED display which can easily be wiped clean, and helps it to look really modern. The Zojirushi BB-CEC20 will look great sat on the counter top of any kitchen, and comes in both white and black/silver. It’s worth noting that the Black/silver version is usually slightly cheaper and personally I think its looks better than the white but that’s just me. The size of this bread machine is approx. 17×12.5×10.5 so about average compared to others I have reviewed, and its weight is just over 20 pounds which is on the heavier side, but as it looks so good you would probably leave it sitting on your counter top anyway. The Zojirushi is fuelled by 700 Watts and has a large viewing window allowing you to check the progress of your baking.
For your money you also receive a measuring spoon and measuring cup, a user manual packed with recipes and also a DVD to help you understand how to get the best out of your Bread Machine. The Zojirushi BB-CEC20 does has a non-stick pan which aids clean up
Any complaints?
The greater majority of reviews for this Zojirushi believe it to be a top purchase and give this product a 4 or 5 star rating. Comments such as ‘the bread quality is superior’, ‘I am absolutely in awe’, and ‘It makes an outstanding loaf’ ring out throughout the reviews. The negatives are few and far between but there are a couple worth mentioning.
Firstly it’s worth noting that you can’t change the crust shade on all settings. Secondly, and pretty much as you would expect with most bread machines, you need to ensure you are precise with your measurements and only use fresh ingredients. Some reviews do mention that the Zojirushi BB-CEC20 can cook an uneven loaf, over cooked at the bottom and undercooked at the top. However, overall the general consensus is that users are more than happy with the loaves baked in this bread maker.
Worth the Money?
It looks great and bakes a great loaf and gets some great reviews so I think the Zojirushi BB-CEC20 as a replacement for the Zojirushi BBCC-X20 is a great buy that you will be proud to own.
